New Years Resolution Walk
Tour of the White Pine Trail
Fred Meijer White Pine Trail 200 Mile Relay (run) This is a new event and it has been an unusual one.
The event is now known as the “Fred” in honor of Fred Meijer!
Things started normally and all progressed well with the various teams making the turn-around at Cadillac with the runners heading back south when the weather decided to quit cooperating. Major storms attacked the trail and the runners in the Reed City area. At this point the staff decided that calling off the “Fred” was the wise thing to do in view of the safety of the runners.
The 200 mile relay runs are getting very popular and we are very fortunate to have this new event in our midst.
These types of events grow in popularity as they attract more participants. The event will bring lots of people to the trail and communities along the trail that would not otherwise be there!
The logistics and operation of the event were over seen by Doug Bostian and Howard Atsma. A fine event was held and a big thanks to those that made this work.
Additionally the event was to benefit the “Friends.” At the September meeting the “Friends” were presented with a $5,000.00 check from the “Fred.” We want to express a huge thanks to the people that orchestrated the “Fred” and to the participants!
Next year’s “Fred” is already on the books and in planning. We are all looking forward to this great event. For more information please visit the link below.

2011 Bridge Run Sunday, September 18, 2011 The “Friends” are going to be the recipients of some of the proceeds from the annual “Bridge Run” this year.
Although the “2011 Bridge Run” is not held on the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail a large number of the people that participate in this annual event train on the FMWPT; and the folks putting on the “2011 Bridge Run” have decided to help us out with the work we do!
Thanks to the many people that make this annual event (Bridge Run) a great success.
If you would like to volunteer on behalf of the “Friends” at the “2011 Bridge Run” please contact the folks that are orchestrating this fine event!
Thanks to all who make this another fine event in West Michigan!
