The Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park passes through the community of Sand Lake and Nelson Township.

There is a small staging area and newly constructed shelter along the trail with plans for restrooms as funds become available!

There are several places to eat and an Ice Cream shop about a block west of the trail, and across the street there is a nice community park.  There is also a gas station / convenience store adjacent to the trail.

Sand Lake has a very nice park just west of the business district.

Gordon Park is Kent County's first park and is located between Cedar Springs and Sand Lake.
