The MDNR supplied the “Friends” with lumber to make mileposts for the entire length of the trail. With the help of Ferris State University the posts were numbered via programmable routers. The northern chapter “Friends” then painted the numbers and planted the posts in their area and also supplied the southern folks with posts to do the southern section.
